The financial crisis has worsened the already challenging situation for Shishi's children's clothing industry, which has been hit hard by the decline in foreign trade demand. As a result, the business of children's clothing in Shishi has become even more difficult. From the end of last year to early this year, some local enterprises have started to shift their production to Zhejiang, further accelerating the trend of market migration and causing growing concerns within the industry.
Shishi's share of the national children's clothing market has sharply declined, now standing at around 5%. This drop is evident when looking at the local enterprises and markets: approximately 70% of Shishi's children's clothing companies are export-oriented, meaning that less than 30% are still trying to survive in the domestic market. In the children's clothing section of Shishi Clothing City, almost 80% of the shops are now selling products from Guangzhou or Zhejiang, with very few operating solely on local Shishi brands. Moreover, the Shishi children's clothing industry is beginning to move its operations to Zhejiang, signaling a major shift in the sector's center of gravity. This transition not only reflects the challenges faced by local businesses but also highlights the need for adaptation and innovation in order to remain competitive in an ever-changing market.
