Pan Weibo vs Li Chen Designed NPC Tide Branding Sanlitun

In early February, Pan Pan and Li Chen made a bold move by joining the tide shop NPC in Sanlitun, marking a significant step in their expansion. This move was seen as filling a notable gap in Beijing’s fashion scene, which has often been criticized for lacking a strong trend culture compared to Shanghai, where tidal shops are more established. Since last year, Nic has been actively collaborating with renowned Hong Kong designer Michael Lau, launching a limited edition T-shirt and a range of other products. This partnership reached a high point when the Afterparty event at Bling offered an eye-catching visual experience that captivated attendees. The opening of the store generated massive excitement, drawing in big names like Huang Weiwen, Lin Junjie, and Hu Yanbin. The design of the space is minimalist, with striking three-letter NPC branding on the metal door. Inside, the green grass-like wallpaper and eco-friendly decor reflect a low-carbon approach that aligns with modern values. To celebrate the opening, Pan Pan and Li Chen invited Michael Lau, the famous Hong Kong doll designer, to join them. They hosted the 10th Anniversary exhibition of the Gardener collection in mainland China. Among the highlights were the 109 Gardener dolls, along with rare design sketches and oil paintings. While the 109 dolls weren’t available for sale, the store did offer special co-branded limited edition Gardener dolls priced at 360 RMB each, which are sure to excite collectors and streetwear enthusiasts alike. Li Chen’s own brand, “NIC IS COMING,” also launched a special cotton jacket for the Beijing store, featuring bold blue and red colors at a price of 3,000 RMB. Another standout piece is a baseball jacket with the word “porcelain” embroidered on the back, showcasing a strong Beijing flair. This item not only represents a cultural statement but also serves as a strategic entry into the local market. Additionally, the store features a curated selection of classic Nike sneakers, reflecting the owner's passion for the brand. More styles and collaborations are expected to follow in the coming months. While Chen Guanxi was focused on expanding in Shanghai, Li Chen took a bold step by bringing his tide shop to Beijing, demonstrating both courage and long-term vision. This move signals a new era for fashion in the capital.
