dyann’s geneva blouses

Dyann has been experimenting with different pattern adjustments on the Geneva V-Neck Blouse. Her work on this pattern has been inspiring, and we’re really enjoying the results she’s achieved. Recently, I’ve found myself falling in love with the Geneva V-Neck Blouse. It’s quickly becoming my go-to pattern, and I’ve been having a lot of fun creating variations. Here's what I've been up to: For my first take on this blouse, I decided to extend the length by a couple of inches to give it a more relaxed, tunic-like feel. The fabric I chose was some sand-washed rayon from my personal stash. It’s incredibly soft and drapes beautifully. I’ve been wearing this version quite often because it feels amazing against the skin. ![First Version](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/8492a290a50bedadf4f451b033c72e2d.jpg) Next, I played around with the neckline, raising both the front and back by 3/4". I also adjusted the sleeve pattern to create a shorter, bell-style sleeve with a tailored cuff. This version is perfect for those days when you want something a little more polished but still casual. ![Second Version](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/2f9e4fde60e2e1aa72aa585c8c943ad3.jpg) One of the inspirations Liesl shared when the pattern was first released was a photo of a blouse with a ruffled detail. I couldn’t resist giving that a try! I used a crisp white cotton fabric featuring embroidered polka dots, paired with a lightweight, doubled-over lawn fabric for the ruffle. To simplify the design, I omitted the buttons and interfacing on the facings, making it easier to wear. This version uses the original neckline depth, and I’m loving how it turned out. ![Third Version](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/ad3d2f37a8a76d504149b9538bf0a891.jpg) For another version, I revisited the raised neckline and focused on adding a smaller, tighter ruffle just around the neckline rather than extending it all the way down the button band. Instead of folding the ruffle fabric in half, I created a narrow hem at the edge, giving it a slightly different look. I also incorporated lantern sleeves, which I adore, along with three horizontal pleats at the hemline and extra buttons for a touch of flair. ![Fourth Version](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/54815a78de8d1f3a38d8775b20d8f0e5.jpg) The Geneva V-Neck Blouse has proven to be endlessly versatile, and I can’t wait to see where else my creativity takes me with this pattern. If you're looking for a blouse that can adapt to your mood and occasion, this might just be the perfect choice! --- In my experience, sewing is all about experimentation and finding what works best for you. Whether you're adjusting lengths, necklines, or adding unique details like ruffles or pleats, the possibilities are endless. Sewing gives you the freedom to express your personal style while also providing endless opportunities to learn and grow. If you've tried the Geneva V-Neck Blouse, I'd love to hear about your own modifications or creations. Let’s keep the conversation going—what are some of your favorite ways to personalize patterns?
