Marble Sculpture Exhibition New York

Marble Sculpture Exhibition New York Sperone Westwater Gallery in New York recently launched a marble sculpture exhibition "Marble Sculpture from 350 B. C. to last week". It is not difficult to see from the names of the exhibitions that the date of the exhibition of the works has been straddled from 350 BC until now. This includes ancient sculptures from Greece and Rome, neoclassical sculptures, and sculptures created by modern and contemporary European and American artists.

Marble is one of the oldest and most basic materials in sculpture creation. It has been widely used in art, installation art and architecture. The modern and contemporary sculptures exhibited in this exhibition provide a different environment for this ancient material. As the pioneer of the Dada movement, Jean Arp (Jean Arp) created in 1941 his work "Mediterranean Sculpture I (Orphic Dream)", which is a sculpture with a biological form. It is sleek and angular. The edge shows the artist's desire to merge different forms of nature. Richard Long's "Heaven (Portrait of Carl Andre)" (2011) consists of six large marble blocks. Fabio Viale's work "Infinite" (2011) is an entangled tire made of marble. The Swiss artist Not Vital's "1/2 Man 1/2 Animal" (1996) is an 11-foot tall humanoid sculpture that looks like a mysterious creature. ***'s work "Marble Doors" (2007) consists of five marble slabs that form a barrier consisting of white and grey door panels. Tom Sachs's "Brute" (2009/2010) made it unusual for ordinary objects to pass through the medium of marble. In "Purity" (2008-2011), Barry X Ball injects new vitality into ancient sculptures through the use of unconventional stones and methods.
